Key Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

In this Field Application Engineering (FAE) role you will be responsible for the successful implementation of the product as well as understanding user needs and applications.  The role will require a high level of technical expertise and commercial judgement to achieve desired business outcomes.  You will be responsible for all technical aspects of the assigned product lines to support Product Management, Sales, and other functional groups to execute the strategy across Delta businesses, partners and customers.  Creating strong working relationships with key stakeholders will be important to harnessing organizational impact beyond the assigned product technology and expanding beyond to the portfolio and solutions level.  This role will be responsible for on-site support at customers, key accounts, and partners - success will rely on leveraging progressive project management methodologies and an expert-level mindset.  The ideal candidate will be especially curious and carry an entrepreneurial spirit.

KA Support

1.    Technical support and project lead to named key accounts (including factory liaison)

2.    Pre-sales support & expanding product usage at target key accounts

 

Product Knowledge

1.    Deep understanding of the product and all its functions – become the GO-TO tech expert

2.    Verifying the Manual is correct compared to Function

3.    Testing new product introductions to verify they perform to specifications

4.    Supplying any issues/bugs/errors back to the R&D team

 

Product Support & Training Services

1.    Pre-Sales application demonstration, design-in, test/POC, documentation

2.    Post-Sales Trouble shooting product issues, validation, on-site and RMA/Rework Assistance

3.    Support Sales team and Customers with product training. 

4.    Support Email, Web, and Phone call service requests

5.    Attend tradeshows and support technical conversations with potential customers

6.    Assist Product Launch and defines areas of product improvement for next gen

Development & Promotion

1.    Work with PM and Marketing to make sure product documentation on web page, production selection site and supplied to customers is accurate

2.    Increase application know-how, developing application notes for product and architecture

3.    Develops Power Points for Sales team to use when promoting the product

4.    Application Champion for IA Solution Center Collaboration & success case harvesting

5.    Product Pack or Kit Development & Test

Minimum Qualifications

Job qualification guidelines:

  • B.S.E. (EE or related) & 0-3 years experience
    • Applies education and experience to professional concepts
    • Follows policies/procedures to resolve routine issues
    • Communication skills to resolve routine automation product technical support issues within company policies/procedures
    • Solves limited scope product related problems from detailed instructions
    • Knowledge and experience with Industrial grade brands in the selected product category
    • Historically demonstrated technical capacity with a hands-on background in designing, installing, programming or testing of selected product category,

 

  • B.S.E. (EE or related) & 3+ years experience
    • Follows policies/procedures to resolve a variety of issues
    • Exercises professional judgement to determine appropriate actions
    • Solves moderate scope problems from general instructions
    • Expanded level understanding of automation products (AC Drives, Servo Systems, PLCs, HMIs, Switches, Fieldbus, Process Controllers, Sensors, power supplies, robots, software/programming) through education and experience
    • Knowledge and experience in machine automation, factory automation, and process automation applications – related to selected product category such as:  Labeling, Pick-N-Place, CNC Shape Cutting, Fans, Pumps, Machine Conveyance, Material Transfer, Lift, AGV, ASRS.

 

  • B.S.E (EE or related) & 5+ years experience OR M.S. (EE or related) & 3+ years experience
    • Conducts business professionally with a full understanding of area of specialization
    • Follows policies/procedures to resolve a wide range of issues
    • Solves diverse and complex problems from minimal instructions
    • Able to analyze data and identify factors to select methods and techniques for obtaining solutions

 

  • B.S.E (EE or related) & 8+ years experience OR M.S. (EE or related) & 6+ years experience OR PhD (EE or related) & 3+ years experience
    • Resolves wide ranging complex issues in creative and effective ways
    • Analyzes situation or data with an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
    • Exercises judgement in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
    • Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends solutions
    • Defines methods and procedures on new assignments

 

  • B.S.E (EE or related) & 12+ years experience OR M.S. (EE or related) & 8+ years experience OR PhD (EE or related) & 5+ years experience
    • Contributes to the development of the functional strategy

    • Uses broad expertise, unique knowledge, and skills to contribute to development of company objectives to achieve goals
    • Works on significant and unique issues where an analysis of situation or data requires an evaluation of intangibles
