Who We Are

Delta, founded in 1971, is a global provider of power and thermal management solutions. Its mission statement, "To provide innovative, clean and energy-efficient solutions for a better tomorrow," focuses on addressing key environmental issues such as global climate change. As an energy-saving solutions provider with core competencies in power electronics and automation, Delta's business categories include Power Electronics, Mobility, Automation, and Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

The Electrical Design Microgrid Solution Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and validation of electrical power systems supporting mission-critical data center microgrids and commercial/industrial energy infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring reliability, resilience, scalability, and grid compatibility for systems serving high-density, fast-ramping loads — including AI and hyperscale data center environments.

The position bridges power system design, modeling, interconnection, and operational requirements, working closely with control, protection, commissioning, and customer teams to deliver robust, repeatable microgrid solutions tailored for data center and C&I deployments.

Main Accountabilities

  • Design and validate data-center-grade and C&I microgrid power architectures from concept through commissioning.
  • Ensure system performance under fast load transients, partial equipment failures, and islanded operation.
  • Own power system studies supporting interconnection, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Define and enforce electrical design standards for scalable, repeatable microgrid deployments.
  • Support integration of BESS, generation assets, UPS, and utility interfaces into cohesive system architectures.
  • Reduce deployment and operational risk through early technical rigor, validation, and design reviews.
  • Serve as a technical counterpart to customers, utilities, and internal stakeholders.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Develop and review:

  • System one-line diagrams and MV/LV power distribution architectures
  • Redundancy and topology concepts (N, N+1, 2N, 2N+1)
  • Equipment layout and electrical room planning

Define system operating modes including:

  • Grid-connected, islanded, and transition states
  • Black start and load restoration strategies
  • Emergency and degraded-mode operation

Coordinate integration of:

  • Utility feeds and point-of-interconnection requirements
  • BESS and inverter-based resources
  • Diesel or gas generation
  • UPS and rack-level power systems
  • t-circuit and equipment duty
  • Transient and dynamic performance (in coordination with system design/stability engineers)
  • Protection coordination and arc flash analysis

Soft Skills & Behavioral Competencies

  • Systems thinker – able to balance control performance, hardware limits, grid requirements, and operational constraints.
  • Structured problem solver – approaches complex technical problems methodically and transparently.
  • Technical communicator – can clearly explain electrical design concepts to non-specialist audiences, customers, and leadership.
  • Collaborative mindset – works effectively across disciplines and organizational boundaries.
  • Ownership & accountability – takes responsibility for technical outcomes from concept through deployment.
  • Adaptability – comfortable working in evolving architectures and handling ambiguous requirements.
  • Attention to detail – maintains rigor in documentation, testing, and validation.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Technical Skills

Perform and review studies including:

  • 3 - 6 Years of related experience
  • Load flow and voltage regulation
  • Short-circuit and equipment duty
  • Transient and dynamic performance (in coordination with system design/stability engineers)
  • Protection coordination and arc flash analysis

Analyze system response to:

  • Fast load ramps (e.g., AI workload pulsations)
  • Loss of major equipment or feeders
  • Mode transitions between grid-connected and islanded operation
  • Ensure study assumptions align with control strategies, equipment ratings, and customer reliability requirements.
  • Coordinate power interfaces between utility POI, MV distribution, and UPS/downstream load filtering.
  • Understand and leverage load filtering provided by UPS systems and rack-level power electronics; define clear boundaries between load-side dynamics and grid-facing systems.

Support utility interconnection processes by:

  • Preparing technical study inputs and reviewing interconnection study results
  • Ensuring IEEE 1547, utility, and regional grid code compliance
  • Coordinating system settings and documentation required for approval
  • Act as a technical interface during utility reviews and customer design discussions.
  • Develop and maintain design assumptions, calculation records, engineering reports, and technical summaries.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with microgrid controllers, EMS, or plant-level supervisory controls.

Exposure to utility interconnection processes and grid code compliance.

Experience with data center power distribution (MV/LV switchgear, PDU, UPS architectures).
